Security has become a major issue these days with the extensive growth of the internet. There are malicious hackers who try and break into a system’s Security, hack accounts, attack passwords, steal sensitive data and in general, create trouble. An ethical hacker, who is also known as a ‘white hat’ on the other hand, is a computer expert who attacks the security system with legal permission in order to test the security and find out loopholes if any and report it back to the owners. Their work is to strengthen the security system so as to make it fool proof.
These Ethical Hackers use the same techniques as their malicious counterparts but they neither damage the system nor try and steal information. Instead their work is to evaluate the strength of the target’s security system and to report back to the owners about the vulnerabilities with instructions how to rectify them. There are four basic kinds of hackers:

- IP Hacker – is a person who is specifically hired to hack a particular IP address. There might be instances where no information can be provided beforehand and you have to be very careful about the address while Hacking because a slight mistake can cause an international incident!
- Physical Infrastructure hacker – This type of a hacker accesses the computer system looking for passwords and other confidential data.
- Application hacker – is someone who has to hack deep into databases and production servers. Highly experienced hackers with proper knowledge and someone who strictly follows guidelines regarding their actions are only hired for such application Hacking.
- Wireless Hacker – has to hack into wireless access points and report back to the employer instead of stealing passwords.
